This actually works. I got a response to a support email I sent to Bethesda saying that the game wasn't tested for Windows 7 and there for not supported. everything was OEM-installed: Win7 Pro 64-bit, ATI 1GB video card with newest drivers, 4 GB RAM, latest BIOS, i7 mobile chip, etc, etc.... Hell, this game ran better on my PS3 when I played it the first time right after it came out before any patches.

Not much has changed on my system otherwise since I last remember running it. However, the reasons for such system failures have not changed from the XP days. Even with this restriction, I have a good antivirus package (Avast Pro). It can work fine for weeks, and freeze every 30 minutes at other times.

While running resource monitor I have noticed the freeze at several points, but never with the same two or three things near the top of the disk activity scale.
