Some of that can be done within Windows disk management, but other steps (some of which aredestructive) require DiskPart.exe operations and selective restoration. Should it - or does that only show when the disk IS the activeboot disk? So I made another clone, but this time using the integrated disk image tools of Windows 7. What happens now? With my previous Acer laptop I was able to and did use cloning.When it comes time for replacement I think I will be looking hard at a laptop again instead of Rename "\DosDevices\C:" to e.g "\DosDevices\Z:". I will read that article too, maybe I should read it first....
